Once upon a time, a particularly bright spark installed a shallow lead… | Maya PolenzOnce upon a time, a particularly bright spark installed a shallow lead gutter and simply lapped the sheets (red arrows). Not only that, but they were lapped against the flow of water (blue arrow) - because one stupidity comes seldom alone. Some 25 years later, rainwater greeted me at the bottom of the 90 feet tower. The gutter base is long gone, and the main roof beam is rotten. The rest is wet but will be ok as, thankfully, the Victorians built sturdy churches.
